CONFIRMATION: - Congratulations to all 6th class students who made their Confirmation on Friday the 22nd of April. The girls confirmed were – Ann Marie Moorehouse (Rathnew), Ellie Taglient, Tiana Doyle Delaney, Caitlin Kavanagh, Sarah Haughton, Shannon Goulding, Caroline Snell, Kacey Murphy, Abbie Doyle, Eva Dowling, Bella Doyle, Kiva Doyle, Ann Marie Moorehouse (Ashford), Shakur Quinn, Lynsey Sayer, Katie Forsyth, Megan O’Brien the weather was good and they had a lovely day.  On Monday they came to school dressed in their Confirmation clothes.  They were admired by all- so beautiful and so grown up looking.

SCHOOL SECURITY GATE: When parents are buzzed in at the gate can you please go to the staff room and not to your child’s classroom as this is very disruptive to teaching.

GYMNASTICS: Girls are doing gymnastics this term.  Parents who are paying by the term should forward €10 to cover the gymnastics to end of June.

FIRST COMMUNION: Girls from  St.Joseph’s made their First Holy Communion in St. Joseph’s church, Rathnew on Sunday 8th May. They were Christina Moorehouse, Erin Cox,Chloe O’Connor, Alannah Knowles Doyle, Erin Killeen, Aislinn Farrell Eager, Georja Coster, Clara Earls, Layla O’Connor, Holly Doyle, Skye Kehoe, Ciara Rose Plunkett, Sarah Hunter. They did their readings and other tasks wonderfully well. Thanks to the choir who sang so beautifully.  Refreshments were served afterwards in the hall.  Heartfelt thanks to all the parents and friends who prepared the children so wll and helped out with refreshments. Thanks also to the organist Ann Morris, Ms Cahill and class teacher Ms. Sumner.

WRITE A BOOK: Award ceremony took place in Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel on 25th April.  This years winners were Kayla Kearney Jnr Inf, Julia Gresko Snr Inf, Kaylynn Redmond 1st class, Holly Doyle 2nd class, Mary Kate Moorehouse 3rd class, Holly O’Connor 4th Class, Abi Doyle 5th Class and Eva Dowling 6th class.  Well done girls!

TABLE QUIZ: The annual table quiz took place on Thursday 12th February.  It was most enjoyable.  A special thanks to all the teachers, parents and friends who attended to support the school.

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR: Copy of the schools code of Behaviour was sent out to each family.  Please return to the school the last page signed by parent if you have not already done so.

SAVINGS:The school runs a savings club for all children. It can be used to save for anything-school books, trips, swimming, holidays.  Bring money to school on a Friday and get a savings card to record your savings.

CERMONY OF LIGHT: The Service of Light is on Tuesday 12th April at 7.30pm in St. Joseph’s Church for all Confirmation Girls.

FIRST CONFESSION: Will take place on Tuesday 8th March at 7.30pm in St. Joseph’s Church.  Please go over the format and prayers with your child.

DANCE: Parents who are paying by the term should forward €10 to cover the dancing to Easter.

ARKLOW MUSIC FESTIVAL: The school have entered the School choir in the Arklow Music Festival.  This will be in St Mary’s College Hall on Sunday 8th March at 1.30pm.   Girls should wear their school uniform.

WRITE A BOOK: All our budding authors from infants to 6th class are busy working on their Write-a-Book.  The books are first written, then edited and illustrated and will be submitted on Thursday 11th February.

TABLE QUIZ:The annual table quiz will take place in Doyle’s on Thursday 4th February at 8.30pm. This night is a much needed fundraiser for the school so please put this date in your diary. We are asking parents to create teams or just come along on the night.   If you are unable to attend you can still make a contribution to the school.

IRISH FLAG AND PROCLAMATION: On Friday 4th December the school received the Irish Flag and the Proclamation in a ceremony where Lieutenant Peter Dunne, Private Jonathan Clarke and Sergeant Adrian Phibs presented both to Abbie Doyle and Carly Mc Donald the eldest and youngest girls in the school. The weather held up and it was lovely to have been able to have the ceremony in the school as it is the last year of this school.  A big thank you to Paddy Canavan who piped the Army officers in to the school.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: Many thanks to Caroline Kelly and The Parents Association committee for a wonderful job organising the Christmas Fair.  It was a lovely afternoon of fun for all.  Thanks to all the children and Parents for their support. Thanks also to the hall committee for the use of the hall. Thanks also to all others who sent donations. Guess the name of the Doll “ Precious”- winner Sarah Haughton, Guess How many Sweets in the Jar winners Carly Waters and Guess the Weight of the Cake was Peggy Vickers.

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE RESULTS: First place went to Tom Dickenson who won the €100 voucher, 2nd place Abbie O’Loughlin who won the €75 voucher, 3rd place went to Bobby Mc Daid who won the €50 voucher, 4th Ann Gregory Afternoon tea in Tinakilly, 5th Eva Dowling Ham voucher for the Village store, lots of other winners:   and 21st prize went to Alex Mc Nabb.  Thanks to all who kindly donated prizes.  If we have inadvertently forgotten to thank anyone our sincere apologies .

CHRISTMAS PLAY/ CAROL SINGING: On Wednesday last we had a lovely night of  carol singing, reading and violin playing in the church.

Congratulations to all the girls involved they did a wonderful job.  On Thursday we had a lovely day of performance starting with Jnr and Snr infants with their play “The day the Aliens came to Rathnew, 1st and 2nd classes with the performance of “Christmas with the Aliens”,3rd and 4th class with their performance of “Nativity Rock”, and closing the day 5th and 6th class performed “Jack and the Beanstalk”
