SCHOOL ABSENCES: It is very important that children attend school every day and for the whole school day.  A child who misses school starts to fall behind. She then loses heart and begins to think she is no good at school.  Any absences or early leaving must be reported in writing.  Figures are compiled on a weekly basis.

CHRISTMAS FAIR:This year we are organising a Christmas Fair to raise much needed funds for your daughter’s school.  It will take place on Friday 11th December in St. Brigid’s Hall from 1pm. We are asking for your help……

* All family’s should have received their raffle tickets. The draw will take place at the fair.  Please return all books sold or unsold by 9th December.

* Bottle week this week each family can donate a bottle of wine, spirit or minerals for our Bottle stall.  These can be dropped into the school any day this week.

* We will have a home baking stall on the day so any cakes can be left into the school on Thursday 10th December or Friday morning.

On the day we will have: Guess the Weight of Cake, Guess the Teddy’s Name, Cake Sale, Teas, Coffees and Hot chocolate stall, We are also having a cupcake decorating competition for children and a cake decorating competition for adults. Christmas Decorations made by the girls, Face Painting, Bottle stall, and hopefully a visit from Santa Claus.

Meeting of Parents Association will take place on Tuesday 8th of December at 7pm in the school. If you have any other fundraising ideas for the fair please write a note to the class teacher or let a member of committee know.

October Newsletter

It is difficult to believe it is mid-term already.

CONFIRMATION AND COMMUNION: Preparation for your child’s first penance, Communion and Confirmation are already underway.  Your child is used to praying with their classmates in school each day.  This helps them to grow closer to each other and to God.  The same things happens when families pray together.  For some families prayer is already part of the rhythm of their day.  For others this will be a new experience and might feel a little awkward at first.  Whichever group you belong to we are asking you to make a special effort to make time to pray together as a family as you get ready for the sacraments.  You may already have favourite family prayers, but each month we will suggest a different prayer for you and your family to pray together.  We begin with a night prayer which will be familiar to your child. “God our Father, I come to say thank you for your love today, Thank you for my family and all the Friends you give to me, Guard me in the dark of night and in the morning send your light Amen.”

BOOKFAIR: Thank you for supporting our Book Fair and to the many parents who came to the school to help their children choose book to read.  We also obtained €800 worth of books free for the school. This helped us renew our library stock as well as encouraging children to read.

They did their readings and other tasks wonderfully well.  Thanks to all the choir who sang so beautifully.  Refreshments were served afterwards in the hall.  Heartfelt thanks to all the parents and friends who prepared and helped out with refreshments and to Mrs Kinsella and committee for use of hall. Thanks also to the organist Ann Morris, Ms Cahill and teacher Ms. Sumner who prepared the girls for the sacraments.

NEW SCHOOL: It has been a long time coming but we have finally turned the sod on our new amalgamated school.  Two junior infants Ajay and Carly turned the sod for us and did a wonderful job. The balloons were beautiful and thanks to all who helped out with organizing and delivering them. The builders who are on site are vastly experienced in the building of schools.  Teachers from both schools will be working closely together in the coming school year and we are planning to bring boys and girls together for some lessons/ activities during the school year.  The parents association of both school will be meeting next week to coordinate their efforts.
