As you know, our focus for our third green flag is to conserve water.  The whole school has been working so hard to reduce the amount of water being used at school.  You can also conserve water at home and third and fourth class have come up with a list of ways in which this can be done.  Each child brought home a flyer with these tips so make sure it is displayed somewhere that everyone can see it and help save water!

1. Only use the dishwasher when it is full

2. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth

3. Conserve rainwater by purchasing water butts and use the water for washing cars, watering plants etc.

4. Don’t leave the shower running when you’re not in it

5. Take a shower instead of a bath

6. Only flush the toilet once

7. Don’t leave the hose on outside when not in use

8. When making a cup of tea, only fill the kettle with as much water as you need

9. Go to the local pool or beach instead of filling a pool at home in summertime

10. When washing things in the sink, use the plug so as not to have water running down the drain

11. Make sure you have a full load in the drum before turning on the washing machine
