Activities in Our School

Here are some of the things we get up to in our school:

The violin is becoming a very popular instrument in our school. Every Wednesday our violin teacher Rebecca comes to our school to teach all the children from Junior Infants to 5th class. They are getting really good at it. Some girls have their own violin now and do lots of extra practise at home.

Pupils in our school are given the opportunity to attend the Coral Leisure Club in Wicklow for swimming lessons. These lessons usually take place in Term 3. The pupils travel to the pool by bus.

All classes attend dance lessons every Monday in the hall. The children get to experience a wide variety of dance styles including hip-hop, theatre dance and Irish dancing.

Drama and performing plays is another area that is very popular with the pupils. Every Christmas each class works very hard to produce a Christmas play which all the parents get to come and watch before the holidays.

Gaelic Football

Every Wednesday, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class take part in GAA training. Local trainer Edwina comes in to do these sessions with the children.  They are all really enjoying it.

Tag Rugby
In Term 1 girls from 1st - 6th class attended Tag Rugby lessons.  The coach was called Shane.  The lessons were excellent and all the children really enjoyed them and learned lots about the skills and rules of Tag Rugby.

We have a school garden in association with Croí Rathnaoi that we tend to on a regular basis. We are very proud of the many different flowers and vegetables we have grown.

Homework Club

We also have a school homework club which is hugely successful. Children from 2nd - 6th class are welcome to attend homework club two days a week, but their mammies and daddies need to be quick off the mark in September as the spaces fill up smartly and there is always a waiting list. Children lucky enough to attend homework club love it. Amanda is our homework club teacher and is an expert at drilling children on their spellings and tables!
